Usage and features

Mermaid

Mermaid enables you to create diagrams and visualizations using text-based definitions.

It is a JavaScript-based diagramming and charting tool that converts Markdown-inspired syntax into dynamically rendered diagrams, allowing easy creation and modification.

Storage

All diagram data is stored as Confluence page attachments.
No sensitive data is transmitted outside the Confluence instance.

Features

The Mermaid macro (Cloud) offers the following features:

  • Editing with basic syntax highlighting

  • Diagram history with preview and restore capabilities

  • Preview controls – display diagrams as smaller or full-sized images

  • Templates (in development)

  • Custom templates (in development)

  • Smart (AI) templates (in development)

  • GitHub integration (in development)

  • SVG viewer with pan and zoom functionality
